Storm in a Teapot is absolutely adorable, It's in the old Trippy Taco location, which has had a clean, fresh update, while keeping the vibe retro and cosy. The peite menu is simple and snacky, they have recently switched to a winter toastie menu including an amazing mushroom, potato, pinenut and vegan cheese number. They focus is really on the teas though, they have a huge range all served with loving care- i haven't tried their cocktails, but i'm sure that everything here is made with love!

Loved their decor- imagine 5Os futurism in plywood meets lounge room comfort, cosy booths and a very stylish Jetson's style display case. All the food is laid out and ready to choose- lots of salad selections (about 10), including hearty ones with tofu and noodles. There are also a few hot dishes (the cubes of deep fried polenta were especially good), most dishes were vegan. You just choose a plate size and load it up. I love a jumble of flavours, colours and cultures on one plate, and i'm usually curious to try as many dishes as i can, so this approach was great for me. It's more home style healthy comfort food, rather than artful presentation and pure flavours (although I guess you could always just try a single dish- rather than the maximum amount that fits in the bowl like i did).
It's a great place to hang out for a leisurely lunch and chat, although while I loved my warm lemon and coconut cake, i'll get coffee somewhere else next time (it was just ok).

Great place to go with friends, or anytime you want one of Melbournes best tofu burgers (in my opinion), big tasty marinated slab of tofu, lots of salad, satay sauce (you get to choose), a yummy bun that contains all those goodies within easily. Its served with a big pile of golden, crispy, veg friendly chips. I’m pretty unadventurous when i eat here, we usually don’t even get a menu, i can’t go past these great burgers. (Jo).
Open: Monday to Friday 08.00 AM - 11.00 PM, Saturday 08.00 AM - 11.00 PM
Vegie Bar website

Great place to go with friends- i’m sure everyone already knows about Vegie Bar, but they updated their menu not long ago and it is much improved. More raw dishes and a super tasty fake duck samal noodles. I’ve had some not so great experiences here (brown rice risotto) but all the asian style noodle - dishes are great and their vegan choc dessert is epic (get it to share- or take home). They have recently added more raw dishes to their menu- the dessert pictured is one of their specials- a mint, lime and avocado 'cheesecake' base, topped with strawberry salsa. (Jo)
